Autumn Watercolour Paint Along

This Online Watercolour Paint Along took place on the 24th September.

We painted a lovely cozy hand illustrated autumn themed scene, featuring autumn leaves, mushrooms, apples, a pumpkin and a candle.

If you would like a copy of the design to paint at home, add your email address below. You’ll then be taken to a page with a copy of the pdf to download and print at home. Materials needed are listed below along with some instructions.

To paint with watercolour you will need

Copy of the print out (sign up with your email address in the box above).

A sheet of greaseproof paper and a pencil if tracing.

Watercolour paper

Watercolour paints

Paint brushes

A small glass of water for your brush

A piece of kitchen paper for blotting.

Watercolour instructions

Either print out the pdf on normal printer paper and trace the design onto watercolour paper or print directly onto the watercolour paper.

Use page one of the pdf (darker lines) if you are tracing.

Use page two of the pdf (fainter lines) if you are printing directly onto watercolour paper.

Please note that ordinary home printers might not like the thick paper and the ink will bleed a little when you paint.

To trace the design, lay a sheet of greaseproof paper over the design. Draw the design with pencil. Colour in the back of the greaseproof paper with pencil. Lay the greaseproof paper over your sheet of watercolour paper, hold it up against a window and draw the design.

For myself, l printed it straight onto a A5 piece of 300gsm watercolour paper.

Brew a lovely hot drink, light an Autumn scented candle, pop on some relaxing music and have a lovely evening or Sunday afternoon painting.

To colour in the design you will need

If you’d rather grab some colouring pencils than some watercolour paints, simply print out the design on ordinary printer paper, or some thicker card stock if it’s for a special occasion, and grab your colouring pencils! I love using soft colouring pencils as they blend easily.
