Being an Eco Friendly artist
Beliefs and values
As an artist based in the Swiss Alps with a love for the ocean, I am well aware of the swift changes happening to our planet. From shrinking glaciers to barren underwater landscapes, I believe that through my art I can inspire change in people and appreciation for the wonders of our world before it is too late.
Choosing to be eco friendly artist starts with beliefs and values but also comes with many decisions too. This includes the materials I use to create my artwork and the packaging I choose to send them to you.
Art materials
I choose to paint in watercolour, on acid free paper, as these use the least amount of chemicals and as little residue as possible gets washed down the drain into our waterways.
My digital illustrations are drawn on my iPad and are printed on demand to avoid a surplus of stock and wasted materials.
Eco friendly packaging
Choosing eco friendly packing materials took many months of research and decision making! I wanted to make sure that all of my packaging is recyclable, compostable, and/or biodegradable. It is very important to me that no plastic is used in these materials.
First I wrap your paintings and prints in glassine paper envelopes. These paper envelopes provide protection from rubbing inside the card envelopes whilst on their way to you. Glassine paper envelopes are recyclable. These are sealed with my branded paper stickers which are also recyclable. They won’t last too long outside if you choose to stick them on your water bottle/bike/phone case, but that is the price you pay for avoiding vinyl. Finally everything is enclosed in a cardboard envelope to prevent bent corners in the post. I stamp the card envelopes with my branded wooden stamp, using plant based ink.
In some cases I may reuse tissue paper and cardboard boxes that I have received myself in the post. I hope that you will consider doing the same and reuse the packaging that you receive from me.
Why not order a print and see my packaging for yourself?
