Lackey Moth Caterpillar Watercolour

Spotting fuzzy caterpillars on spring and summertime walks in so entertaining. Always scrabbling across paths to get to safety or managing what seems an impossible feat to us - scaling a vertical wall or crawling along a plant stem narrower than itself - they are a joy to watch. Of course, as with butterflies and moths, caterpillars come in an amazing array of colours and patterns. This original watercolour painting is of a Lackey Moth Caterpillar. Technically not seen at this time of year here in Europe, but I couldn’t resist adding it to my Autumn Collection.

Beautifully painted with great attention to detail using high quality watercolour paints and very fine brushes. Finished off with small gouache detailing and hairline pencil strokes, every painting of mine is a labour of love.
