Original Oak Leaf and Acorns Watercolour
The constantly changing colours in autumn are spectacular. I love finding beauty in the smallest details of an acorn cup or a helicopter seed. The numerous autumn colours of oak leaves are all contained in this painting - from bright lime green, to golden yellow and deep mahogany brown. Within the oak leaf wreath shape are a cluster of acorns, also displaying the variety of brown and black hues found at this time of year.
The leaves and acorns were collected from beside an alpine lake, which I then arranged into this configuration before painting. This watercolour was delicately painted with emphasis on realism and fine details. I use high quality watercolours and 300gsm rough watercolour paper which has a slight texture.
